Digital Art
Half an hour for a face. The curves gather in the hair, thin out towards the collar and are left open at the shoulder. The grey sits behind, while the black lines hold the parts I want to see clearly.
I like that contrast: the hair has a lot of movement, the gaze stays fairly still. A few details are worked with care; the rest is only just enough for the figure to appear.
The old ink drawings sit on yellow kraft paper. This one sits on a white digital surface. I still find the form through line, and still leave some areas unfinished.
After a while of drawing little for myself, this is a new sketch. I want to keep it in this state, with the parts that are clear and the parts still open.
